MAN Nutzfahrzeuge the manufacturer of MAN high speed diesel engines has announced its strategic re-evaluation that will now, not see the anticipated integration of high speed engine business with MAN Diesel & Turbo. This will allow MAN Nutzfahrzeuge to realise future synergies between MAN vehicle, industrial, power and marine application in the high-speed sector. Whilst it remains a common goal to fill the power range between the engine portfolios of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge and MAN Diesel & Turbo, there will not be any overlaps with products.
Seapower Australia Pty Ltd will remain the sole importer and distributor MAN marine high speed diesel engines. This decision ends over 12 months of uncertainty within the Australian marine market that has seen misinformation and ambiguity surrounding engine distribution. Seapower Australia CEO Steve Mawhinney said “This decision sends a loud and clear message to the market place that Seapower Australia is the long term MAN marine high speed engine distributor and the best option for MAN to expand its Australian business into the future”.
In direct contrast to the world market, the last 18 months has seen Seapower Australia dramatically grow the MAN marine high speed engine business by securing major projects with some of Australia’s leading boat builders such as Austal, SBF and Strategic Marine.
